Introducing ECO Media News Awards
We are committed to promoting Ugandan artists in the Diaspora. Despite having more resources than their counterparts back home, they are struggling to keep up and produce material that can compete favourably back home-although the should infact be setting the trend.
In playing our part in improving the quality of entertainment and inspire in our artists we are introducing the ECO Media News Awards in order to recognise excellence in entertainment. Being based in London, our awards will, for now, recognise UK-based entertainers. We will be recognising our musicians with two awards this year;
Artist of the Year Award:
This will be given to the artist that we feel has done more than others to better his career to inprove his profile as well as make more, better music.
Song of the Year Award:
We will recognise one song of good quality. This is not necessarily in terms of popularity as we believe there is great music out there that some artists have not quite given its due promotion.
We will be working with insiders in the Ugandan entertainment in UK to come up with nominees for the two categories whom we will then put to a public vote online to get the final winner.
ECO Media News's Abbey Boris Mugerwa says that "we re looking forward to making it an annual event that will in future see ECO Media News introducing more catagories which would also recognise Uganda entertainment personnel in other parts of Diaspora"

The notion of awards is a reminder to mainstream and aspiring artists to work hard. Thumbs up to Club Valentino‘s, Tottenham, for providing a platform to established artists!

Its really good to see talented artists such as myco and kuklee recognised, they hav been at this game for so long. I wish them all the best and have much love for the other artists nominated. What saddens me is the bitterness other artists are creating because of the nominations.Especially 1 with the intial G, We preach of love and harmony in our country, but when our brothers are nominated instead of being proud for them we feel jealous and attack organisers. There is room for everyone, except hate. Take this as a challenge, raise your game. Lift your head up and know that next time you will be among the names. For everyone else lets get voting and be proud that we have people from our land who provide us with the flavour of ugandan music in uk. Peace
